Construction Technology Conference

Thursday, 8 October 2020

The Construction Technology Conference is a regional platform for C-levels and government ministers to investors and planners to come together and discuss all aspects of construction technology to accelerate the process of a successful transition to affordable smart buildings, create more automated and user-centric facilities, and develop methodology in improving quality.

The agenda will cover:

  • Digital Asset Management

  • Smart Home, Smart Buildings, IOT

  • Evolution of Artificial Intelligence

  • Business Information Modelling (BIM)

  • Virtual Reality, Design, and Architecture

  • Construction Technology Live Product Demonstrations

Conference Agenda

11:30am – 11:50am

Digital Asset Management

11:50am – 12:10pm

The integration of partitions and new generation plasterboards at Building Design stage for an added asset value and optimized construction costs

Dorian Bomble, Specifications Manager - Middle East, Saint-Gobain Gyproc

The integration of partitions and new generation plasterboards in modern building design has proven its efficiency all over the world, in decreasing the building structural load, increasing the living space and speeding up construction, therefore increasing asset value while optimizing its construction cost.

12:10pm – 12:30pm

Technology of judging the safety of buildings

Eng. Abd ElHamid Tantaw, Consultant Engineer, Ministry of Awqaf Kuwait

Structural engineering and consequently the use of modern technology.

  • A chart of the most important requirements for judging the safety of buildings.

  • Principles and diagnostic programs for the types and causes of cracks and collapses (cut through 18 Type 29 causes as an example).

  • The use of modern technology in the study of cracks and collapse of buildings.

  • Intelligent technology to control cracks and inclinations of buildings.

  • Chart of building structure monitoring.

  • Modern technology in strengthening R.C.

12:30pm – 12:50pm

Coffee Break / Visit the Exhibition

12:50pm – 1:10pm

The Digital Disruption of the Facade Industry - Benefit or Burden?

Micha Pawelka, Managing Director, Priedemann FZCO

  • Current Status of responsibility separation between design and execution

  • Digitalization – The game changer

  • Façade 4.0 and the future

In line with the conference agenda we are discussing on multiple levels how to the entire design- and execution process can be improved, e. g. with the help of BIM or other tools. Why we are discussing this? Because the current system separates clearly between a design process and the execution. Many times the design process is lacking the execution requirement and the once the execution started the motivation changes and design intent is on risk to be ignored.

Unfortunately this is in particular valid for the façade since, compared to the investment amount in Europe, Asia or the US, the façade became a commodity in the region. The engineering process is getting neglected not only in the execution but already in the design stage with the result of unsatisfactory envelope performance – a no-go in the time of sustainability and energy-saving requirements.

The Digitalization process will change this by force and the industry shall be prepared for what is coming.

1:10pm – 1:30pm

Business Information Modelling (BIM) - (AutoDesk Accreditation & Certification included)

Tony Michel Zekry, BIM Manager, Autodesk Certified Instructor, Limak Insaat

Building information modeling (BIM) has imposed itself on the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. Therefore many firms have taken the decision to embrace BIM. BIM makes a reliable digital representation of the building available for design decision making, high-quality construction document production, construction planning, performance predictions, and cost estimates. Not only, that BIM can also be used by the property owners, once the construction process has ended, to carefully monitor how the building is performing and to complete repairs efficiently.

The presentation will be discussing:

  • What BIM really is

  • BIM's benefits for owners, designers and contractors.

  • Discover what's beyond BIM (virtual reality, laser scanning, etc).

1:30pm – 1:50pm

The business value of BIM implementation in Middle East - (AutoDesk Accreditation & Certification included)

Taher Mohammad Saied, CEO - Autodesk Certified Instructor, CAD Masters Training & Solution

BIM use expected to increase in the Middle East While BIM is currently at an early stage of implementation in the Middle East, the study demonstrates that it is poised for significant growth. The majority (79%) of respondents currently using BIM expect to be at a high level of implementation in just two years, and 85% of current non-users are either interested in and/or are actively evaluating BIM. Strong project and business benefits reported by current BIM users will help drive the market, as will the perception of BIM’s growing importance to firms seeking to stay competitive.

  • BIM use statistics in middle east

  • Benefits gained from success implementation

  • BIM teams

  • BIM investment
